Limits

  • Reads JPEG, TIFF, PNG, WebP and (where the browser lets the file in) HEIC. Many pictures have no EXIF at all, especially screenshots and anything shared through messaging apps or social sites, which strip it.
  • Only the tags the file really contains are shown, with the values as stored; nothing is guessed. Binary tags (maker notes, thumbnails) are listed by size only.
  • A location is shown as coordinates in text. No map is loaded and the position is never looked up anywhere, so nothing leaves your device.
  • To remove this information before sharing, use Remove metadata (Image Studio): it re-saves the picture without EXIF or GPS.
  • Everything runs on your device; images are never uploaded.
