Limits

  • Quality is lowered first; if the target still is not met, the picture is made a little smaller (unless "keep dimensions" is on).
  • PNG cannot be compressed by lowering quality, so a PNG target is reached by shrinking the picture. JPEG or WebP work much better for photos.
  • JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a solid colour (white unless you choose another).
  • A file already under the target is returned unchanged unless the format changes.
  • Animated GIFs keep only their first frame. HEIC/HEIF photos are not readable by most browsers; export them as JPEG first.
  • Everything runs on your device; images are never uploaded. Very large batches may be slow on phones.
