Limits

  • Strip empties the document Info dictionary (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, dates) and removes the document-level XMP packet. XMP attached to individual pages or images, and file-system timestamps, are not touched.
  • Set also removes the document-level XMP packet so old titles do not override the new ones in some viewers.
  • The tool cannot see metadata inside embedded images (such as EXIF in a photo).
  • Password-protected PDFs are refused (there is no password prompt yet); remove the password first.
