Limits
- Which audio formats open depends on your browser: Chrome, Edge and Firefox read MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, FLAC and WebM audio; Safari reads fewer (OGG/Opus and WebM support is limited, FLAC needs a recent version). A file the browser cannot decode gives an error naming it.
- Audio is decoded fully in memory, so files are limited to 200 MB and 30 minutes of audio (decoded stereo 44.1 kHz audio is about 20 MB per minute). On devices that report little memory, or on phones, the limit is lower and a clear message says so.
- The picture is a PNG, not an interactive player. Each pixel column shows the lowest and highest sample in its slice of the file.
- Silence is found in 10 ms steps, so start and end times are accurate to about 10 ms. A step counts as silent when every channel stays under the threshold.
- Peak and RMS are measured on the decoded samples (dBFS, 0 = full scale). RMS is an average level, not LUFS.
- Everything happens on this device; the file is never uploaded.
Ask the AI chat
The AI chat can run this tool for you. Try:
- “show me the waveform of this audio”
- “find the silent parts in my recording”
- “what is the peak level of this audio file?”
