Limits
- Output is 16-bit PCM WAV, which is large (roughly 10 times the size of an MP3). MP3 and AAC export are not available in the browser yet. Convert to MP3 or AAC with a desktop editor if you need small files.
- Which audio formats open depends on your browser: Chrome, Edge and Firefox read MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, FLAC and WebM audio; Safari reads fewer (OGG/Opus and WebM support is limited, FLAC needs a recent version). A file the browser cannot decode gives an error naming it.
- Audio is decoded fully in memory, so files are limited to 200 MB and 30 minutes of audio (decoded stereo 44.1 kHz audio is about 20 MB per minute). On devices that report little memory, or on phones, the limit is lower and a clear message says so.
- The result keeps the file’s own sample rate when it can be read from a WAV, MP3, FLAC or Ogg header; for other formats the browser’s default rate (usually 44.1 or 48 kHz) is used.
- You type the start and end times; there is no interactive waveform to drag yet. Use "Waveform viewer" first to find the right times.
- Cuts are exact to the sample (start and end are rounded to the nearest sample). Fades are straight linear ramps.
- Everything happens on this device; the file is never uploaded.
