Limits

  • Recognises about 60 common formats from their first bytes. Anything else is shown as unknown binary data or plain text.
  • ZIP-based files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, EPUB, JAR, APK) are told apart by the entry names inside the ZIP.
  • It reads the start of the file only and never opens, runs or renders it. A matching signature does not prove a file is safe.
