Limits

  • EAN/UPC/ITF-14 check digits are validated or added; a wrong one is refused with the correct digit.
  • A barcode is not a registered product code: real EAN/UPC numbers come from GS1 (company prefix). Do not invent numbers for goods sold in shops.
  • Low contrast, a small bar width or a small margin can make scanning fail; test with a scanner before printing.
